Colorado River
The Colorado River has dropped to 308 cubic feet per second (cfs) and is running clear. San juan worms, princes, and pmd nymphs have been the most consistent producers with nice fish being taken on streamers in the afternoons and hatches of caddis in the late afternoon and early evenings.
Blue River
The flow on the Blue River has dropped significantly in the past few days and is currently flowing at 400 cfs. This is the best flow we have had on the Blue since the middle of June. We continue to see fish taken on standard nymph patterns, including various worm patterns, phesant tail nymphs, and princes.
Troublesome Creek
The Upper Troublesome is flowing clear and there are numerous hoppers and cicadas with fish rising to these large dries throughout the day while more cautious fish continue to take droppers such as prince nymphs.
On the Lower Troublesome the water is slightly turbid but we are seeing nice hatches in the late mornings and into the afternoons and nice fish are being taken on droppers such as copper johns and prince nymphs. Nymph rigs and streamers are also working on the lower section of the creek.
Elktrout Ponds
The fishing on our private still waters has been productive throughout the year. Damsel and callibaetis patterns continue to work well in the late mornings and early afternoon and fish are taking scud patterns throughout the day. In the evenings, and on overcast days, fish are taking large terestrial patterns on the surface. We've even had fish taking mouse patterns at dusk!
