At Elktrout we look for individuals with a positive and energetic attitude who are interested in collectively working to provide our guests with a memorable experience while at the lodge. We seek individuals who are mature, self-motivated, team players, enjoy entertaining guests, have strong communications skills and have the mental and physical stamina necessary for working the duration of our season. Elktrout employees provide outstanding service through positive interactions with guests and strive to meet our guest's expectations in a professional manner.
The nature of employment at Elktrout Lodge requires the highest degree of personal commitment for the safety and well being of our guests as well as yourself. In order to perform your responsibilities it is necessary to achieve and maintain an optimal level of alertness, stamina, and good health. Getting sufficient sleep is crucial to this end.
All staff members are expected to present a neat and clean appearance at all times. We expect staff to dress appropriately; guides are expected to wear a logoed Elktrout shirt and hat while guiding. Lodge staff is expected to wear provided logoed Elktrout shirts when on duty. Chefs are required to wear chef coats and pants. We expect all staff to maintain a high level of personal hygiene. Male employees are expected to be clean-shaven or if wearing beards and mustaches, they must be neatly trimmed.
Guides are required to provide their own vehicle and are required to provide proof of insurance. Guides are also required to provide proof of CPR and First Aid certification.
All qualified applicants should expect to work a flexible schedule which may include days, evenings and weekend shifts. The position may involve one or more of the following activities: lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, standing continuously, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, and walking short distances on gravel, uneven surfaces, trails, etc. Also, positions could include food prep, table service, washing dishes, mopping floors, and inventory.
Our summer season starts May 1st and ends September 30th. All staff is required to be available during this period of time.
Abuse of alcohol or use or possession of illegal drugs is not allowed and is cause for immediate termination and prosecution. Smoking is highly discouraged among staff and is only allowed in outdoor locations. No staff member is allowed to smoke while guests are present.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age when reporting for work. All employees must provide proof of citizenship or immigration status. You will need to provide a valid driver's license, current passport or original social security card and must complete the required I-9 and W-4 forms. There are no exceptions.
